Amil Anderson

Amil Anderson is entering his second year as sports information coordinator in the University of South Dakota athletic department in 2010-11. Anderson arrived at USD in August 2009 after spending the previous two seasons at the University of Nebraska.

During his time in Lincoln, Anderson worked as the primary contact for wrestling and women’s soccer, handling all day-to-day media relations, producing media guides and maintaining the sport pages on Huskers.com. His 2008 women’s soccer guide was named “Best in the District” and third in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He hosted the 2009 Big 12 Wrestling Championships, while also volunteering at the 2008 U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. Anderson also assisted in media relations with the Husker football program and provided gameday staff for basketball and baseball.

Prior to his time at NU, Anderson worked with the NBA D-League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce during the 2006-07 season. Serving as the media relations intern, he composed all postgame recaps for home games, while also assisting in postgame press conferences.

A native of Newcastle, Wyo., Anderson graduated from Augustana College in December 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He ran cross country and track and field for the Vikings, including leading the 2006 cross country squad to the national meet as a captain.
