There was a great turnout at the introductory press conference for new USD athletic director David Sayler on June 24. Part of that turnout was extensive media coverage, which included five regional TV stations, several radio stations plus area print media.

Former Coyote Coach Tibbetts Honored
--The late Fred Tibbetts, a former head women’s basketball coach at USD, has been selected as one of South Dakota’s two inductees into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame. Tibbetts, who coached USD from 1986-90 and briefly again in 1998, had an impressive high school coaching career in the state as well, going 551-101 at Jefferson and Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Tibbetts died of cancer in 2008.
