PRIMM, Nevada –- Junior Kyle Scanlon posted two solid rounds to lead the University of South Dakota men’s golf team during the opening 36 holes of the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nevada, on Monday.
Scanlon (Stillwater, Minn.) shot an 82 for the first 18 holes and followed with a 79 over his second 18 holes, giving him a 36-hole score of 161. Scanlon is tied for 69th overall.
Senior Jim Walsh (Sioux Falls, S.D.) shot a pair of 81s and is at 162 through two rounds for the Coyotes, who are 17th with a team score of 654. Freshman Ty Munneke (Champlin, Minn.) is at 163 (78-85) while freshman Ben Heller (Aberdeen, S.D.) and junior Gavin Fawbush (Madison, S.D.) each are at 172. Heller shot rounds of 81 and 91 while Fawbush is at 85 and 87.
The event, which is being played at the Primm Valley Golf Club Desert Course, concludes Tuesday.
