USD Successfully Defends Titles at GWC Championships
Vermillion, S.D. – The University of South Dakota men’s and women’s track and field teams capped their indoor season on Saturday with strong showings, as both successfully defended their team titles at the Great West Conference Championships in the DakotaDome. The Coyote women claimed 230.5 points to outpace Utah Valley’s 195, while USD notched 187 points to defeat Utah Valley’s 168 on the men’s side.

Coyotes Lead After First Day of GWC Championships
Vermillion, S.D. – A fast start in the field events has the South Dakota men and women in first place in the team standings after the first day of the Great West Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday in the DakotaDome. The Coyotes set numerous personal bests en route to claiming three individual titles and one relay title to earn 80 points in the women and 55 in the men. Utah Valley is tied for first on the women’s side with 80 points and Utah Valley is second for the men with 34.

Buell Named GWC Student-Athlete of the Month
Vermillion, S.D. – USD freshman Bethany Buell has been selected the Great West Conference Student-Athlete of the Month for January, the league office announced Friday. The monthly honor is the second for South Dakota this year, as men’s basketball player Tyler Cain earned the accolade for December.

Vermillion, S.D. – USD senior Ramsey Fitzsimmons has been named the Great West Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. The weekly honor is the first for Fitzsimmons this indoor season, as the USD women claimed the accolade all six weeks of the season.
