Vermillion, S.D. – USD junior Crystal Schiernbeck has been named the Great West Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. The weekly honor is the first of her career.
Schiernbeck (Ida Grove, Iowa) was one of seven Coyotes to claim an individual title at the Nebraska Open last Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. Competing against nationally-ranked Kansas State and Nebraska, Schiernbeck posted a personal-best leap of 18-3 3/4 to win the long jump. The mark was the third farthest in the GWC this season.
The Coyote track and field teams conclude their season by hosting the 2010 GWC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at Williams Field in Yankton. A full preview of the meet can be found by clicking on the link above.
