Nicole Funck

PRIMM, Nevada -- Freshman Nicole Funck shot two rounds in the 80s to lead the University of South Dakota women’s golf team at the opening round of the Jackrabbit Invitational, being held at the Primm Valley Golf Club Lakes Course in Primm, Nevada.

Funck (Dakota Dunes, S.D.) shot 18-hole scores of 82 and 87 during the first day of competition to finish the opening 36 holes at 169, which is in a tie for 76th.

Junior Abby Doorn (Spencer, Iowa) added rounds of 91 and 92 and is at 183; junior Steph Zavilla (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was at 186 (93-93), while freshman Tara Ravellette (Philip, S.D.) is at 199 (102-97). Sophomore Katie Benedict (Sioux Falls, S.D.) is at 219 (103-116).

USD is in 16th overall at 737.

The final day of competition is set for Tuesday.
